As research challenges unfolded nationally in 2025, we responded to this challenging moment in science by launching the Genomic Opportunities Lab, or "GenOps," as a hub for creative problem-solving.

The goal is to elevate, extend, and sustain the impact of timely research happening in the field.

Our strategy leverages the intellectual and infrastructural resources that are concentrated in the Kartzinel Lab at Brown University in order to create new opportunities for training and collaboration. This includes making our lab and resources as available as practical to serve others. It has had the immediate effect of helping to alleviate the time and cost burdens that are associated with using molecular data in ecology and conservation.
