GenOps is turning genomic opportunities into conservation impacts

Solutions to the most important conservation challenges are rarely limited by motivation. They are limited by opportunity.

The Genomic Opportunities Lab (GenOps) at Brown University was launched to change the game.

Researchers and conservation leaders are aware of how access to emerging genomic technologies, analytical capabilities, and infrastructure could provide answers to the questions that matter most–but too often it's judged to be too expensive, too technically challenging, or otherwise too impractical to even try.

GenOps is a research and training initiative launched by the Kartzinel Lab at Brown University. Our goal is to connect genomics, field ecology, and data science in ways that help deliver the greatest impacts on real-world conservation challenges.

We are not a conventional biotechnology service provider or sequencing center. We are more than a laboratory. We are here to leverage Brown University's strengths in research and technology to build a platform for collaboration. We work by connecting field ecologists, conservation organizations, local partners, students, and scientists based on our shared commitment to answering questions that are too time-sensitive and important to tackle all alone.
